Hello,
I'm searching for information on my ancestor James Caufield who was born on 4th April 1820 in the parish of Moor, Athlone, County Roscommon, IRL. We believe his parents were James Patrick Caufield and Margaret Mary Carey. They emigrated to the U.S. and settled in New York State. There is a story that James' mother Margaret died on the journey before they arrived at their destination, and the father James Patrick had to leave his daughter Bridget with some other people along the journey. I am looking for any documentation and would love to back farther from James and his parents if possible. And are there any relatives still there? James Caufield lived to be 100 years old and died in 1920 in Buffalo, New York. Thank you for any help. Kind regards, Karen Mohr

Karen:
The 1828 Tithe listings for Moore civil parish show 24 Caulfield records although there may be some duplicates. I see four James Caulfield records.

The 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Moore parish showed seven Caulfield records http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/results.jsp?…
The RC records for Moore parish do not begin until 1876 so no records for your ancestors would be available.
In the 1901 census there were four Caulfield households in the parish.
Have you considered DNA testing?
