Researching James Maybury (1799-1870) and his wife Maria Shaw (1812-1888). James was a forester and land steward for the Herbert family, and I believe his father was also. Most of their children emigrated to Montreal, Canada in the 1860s, as did his widow.

Hi,
Thanks for your message.
Irish Genealogy have started a project to upload Irish church records to their website free of charge. Only a small number of counties have been completed so far but Kerry is one of them so you should be able to find records relating to the family here:
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/
You could also check the land records from 19th century Ireland:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Civil records began in 1864 so you may also be able to find information here. These are available from the GRO in Dublin. Here is their website:
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these records online at:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
Some other websites that may be helpful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm
The US National Archives: http://www.archives.gov

Irish Times: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/index.htm

I hope this is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
