I'm looking for my Irish emmigrant ancestor. Based on the 1860 US Census he was born about 1795. I haven't been able to locate his arrival to America, but he married in 1825 in Marion, Kentucky. In the records of marriages in Marion he is listed as James Lime Melanthy, but all other records list his surname as Lime. This is also the name that has been used by all his descendants here. I would appreciate any help in locating where James came from in Ireland. Thank you, Dee Lime Benscoter

Very few churches have records back to the late 1700s and I did not see a baptismal record for James Lime. The name Lime appears to be extemely rare as was Lyme. The surname Lyne was found in good numbers in Co. Kerry.
Have you considered DNA testing? Possibly you will get info showing the general area in Ireland where your family originated. Also, you may get some distant matches which might shed some light on the particulare county in Ireland.
