Researching the parents of my husband's gg-grandfather, George Pierce NOONAN. I have been told that his parents were James and Bridget (O'BRIEN?). He had several siblings, including John, Martin, and Bridget. All three boys emigrated to the United Sates (George ending up in Santa Rosa, CA, and John and Martin going to Rhode Island), but Brisget stayed in Ireland and married Timothy KEARSE.
Please, if anyone is descended from any of his siblings, I would love to collaborate with you!

  • Dear LL:

Thank you for your query to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.  You might be interested to know that the Ennis parish registers have been transcribed and are availble through the Clare Library website:

    http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/don_tran/bmd/baptism_records_killone.htm

There are also other resources for Killone civil parish (where Tiermaclane is located).  They are available through this link:

    http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/places/killone.htm

I will copy this post to a local historian in that area who may be able to reply with further information.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Kind regards,

    Jane

Hi LL:  below is what information was received from the gentleman that I mentioned earlier:

With our records beginning in 1834, three children of James Noonan and Bridget O’Brien appear:

    Clarecastle/Ballyea Church Baptisms:

    MICHAEL

    NOONAN

    JAMES

    NOONAN

    BRIDGET

    O'BRIEN

    13-Jan-1836

    1836

    BALLYEA

    JOHN

    NOONAN

    JAMES

    NOONAN

    BRIDGET

    O'BRIEN

    17-Jan-1843

    1843

    BALLYEA

    JAMES

    NOONAN

    JAMES

    NOONAN

    BRIDGET

    O'BRIEN

    21-Jul-1845

    1845

    BALLYEA

I can’t find a Noonan marriage or indeed a Kearse marriage in the records. Neither can I find any of the children in Ballyea school rolls. Noonan as a name seems to have died out in Ballyea in 1846. There were Noonan families there other than those of James and Bridget.

I hope that this is of some help to you

     Kind regards,

    Jane

  • Wow! Thank you so much, Jane! That's very kind and helpful of you! How interesting that only some of the children appear, and that George is not one of them. He was born in 1837... I wonder if it is possible that George and Martin are not related (directly) to this family after all! Drat! Now I need to go back and check how I got the idea that James and Bridget were his parents!

Thnk you again for the info! It's been a long time since I found anything new about George!

    Take care,
    Loralee

  • Hello Jane,
First of all, so sorry to not reply for nearly two years! ! I don't think I ever get notices about emails or responses; at least, somehow, I missed that one...
None of those names you mentioned sound familiar, unfortunately... =(
