I am searching for information on James Pennington, born 12 Aug 1831-2 to:
William Pennington & Ann Wallace
Parent's names are taken from a single source, James' death certificate. They seem to be correct as James named his firstborn son William Wallace and first daughter Eva Ann.
James' father died before he was born.
James' mother died when he was 12.
There is rumor too of an invalid sister.
James allegedly worked the coal mines.
He claims to have been born NEAR Glasgow, Scotland, but research there finds no birth record.
I hired a professional genealogist in both Scotland and England to search for my James. They came up blank.
James emigrated to Courtland, Kent, Michigan in the late 1840s.
I have reason to believe that he lived in Ireland. There seem to have been a few Pennington families in the Dublin and NE Ireland areas.
Any help you can give will be appreciated. Thanks.

Cynoconnor, thanks for the links. Interesting map layouts showing where Pennington families resided in the mid-19th century. Not too many of them but points me in the right direction. I see that the majority of these families lived in Northern Ireland where it was not too far from Scotland.
Seanmacd (Jack), thanks for the information. Not my James. My James Pennington was born near Glasgow, Scotland on 12 Aug 1831 or 1832. His father was William Pennington who died before James was born. James' mother, Ann Wallace, died when he was 12. This left James an orphan. Story says he worked the coal mines until coming to America in the late 1840s. He settled in Detroit and later moved to Courtland, Kent, Michigan where he lived the rest of his life.
I am hoping to find any links to my James Pennington (1831/2) to a William Pennington or an Ann Wallace Pennington.
One family source says there was also an invalid sister.
Thanks!
