  • Hello, Thomas,

I am descended from John Codd who died June 20, 1798.  He was my 4th great grandfather. His son, Mark is also buried at Ballybrennan Cemetery and the marker states he was "late of Ballygillistown".  Mark's son, John, who was born in 1798 lived at Garr, Co. Wexford and is buried with his wife at Davidsown churchyard.  The births of his children are recorded in the Davidstown church register.  His daughter, Maria, married Nicholas Keating of Sarshill, Kilmore, Co. Wexford, and their youngest son, Nicholas, who emigrated to Nebraska, USA, was  my grandfather.   I would like to try to confirm if my John Codd who died in June 1798 was the same John Codd enumerated on a list of prisoners held by the rebels in Wexford. The execution of loyalist prisoners on the Wexford Bridge occurred on that same day, June 20, 1798.  None of my relatives in Ireland that I have interviewed have shared or stated any knowledge of the facts concerning John Codd's death in 1798.  I have seen it written that John and Thomas were brothers, but personally have no proof of that relationship.  Are you possibly a descendant of one of these men?
