I am searching for information on my father's maternal family. His grandfather John J Collins was born (abt 1873 in Ireland - d. 1916 in Detroit,MI) to John Collins and Mary Birrane/Byren/Byrne. Through the help of a genealogist in Ireland, we believe we've pinpointed the place of his birth to Caherconlish. He had two known siblings by the name of  Michael (b. 1870 - d. 1931) and Mary (b. abt 1866 - d. 1935). All three siblings left Ireland between 1885-1895) and settled in Detroit, Michigan, USA. There may be several other siblings that stayed in Ireland. We know little else about the Collins family and know nothing at all about the Birrane family. If anyone believes that they know of this family, I would love to talk to you.

    This is a longshot but the year and parish fit and PERHAPS illiteracy / mistranscription had Birrane / Byrne as Ryan??

    roots has 8 Mary Birrane baptisms from Limerick but none from Caherconlish.
