Hello- I’m looking for information about John Dempsey born in 1798 and/or 1803. He married Ellen or Elenor Shaughnassey (born 1810) and left Newbridge? In 1848 on the ship Hottinguer. He had 7 children- Malachi, David,Thomas F born 1839 and/or 1841, John, Joseph, Ann and Bridgett. The John I’m describing is my great, great grandfather
Im trying to figure out if there were 2 different John born 5 years apart (maybe cousins) or if that is 1 person just wrong dates. One of the John’s father was William Malachi. Trying to figure out if he is my 3rd great grandfather

thank you Miriam. I’m going to search some more to find my John Dempsey and who his father was. I appreciate your help. You are wonderful to volunteer. I am staying in Dublin this summer and plan to drive down to Newbridge soon. Maybe I can find some Dempsey’s! I am from outside of Chicago

Hi Miriam- thank you so much for your offer to show me around when I come to Newbridge. My brother, Jim Dempsey and I are hoping to come visit Newbridge next Tuesday or Wednesday the 15 or 16 of Oct. Is there any chance you would be available to meet with us? I have an address of a Dempsey farm belonging to a distant relative’s ancestors that I found on 23 and me I’m hoping my ancestors farm will be close by. My family tree is up on ancestry.com if you have access I have not filled out all the brothers, sisters and cousins yet- a project for next year. Let me know your availability either day next week.
