I am looking for my Dolan relatives from Cavan.  John Dolan Married an Ellen McGovern they had a son John Dolan born Cavan 9/1/1884 who then moved to Scotland when he was somewhere between the age of 7 and 11, he married a Flora Deirie on 26/4/1906 in Scotland and he died in Wishaw Lanarkshire Scotland on 27/4/1970. 

I am looking for John's parents marriage records and their son John's birth / baptism records.

The family is certain they come from Cavan but I have no idea which town.

I believe John and Ellen also had a daughter, Margaret Dolan who also moved to Scotland.  She may have been born in 1894 but exact date may be different.

Any help appreciated!

    Attached are a marriage record and two birth records, but I am not certain if they are correct because the spouse is Mary, not Ellen McGovern....additionally, this Mary McGovern was a widow...the record shows her maiden name was Maguire. The only birth record I could find for a John Dolan shows him born in March of 1883 in the townland of Coppanaghbane, and his mother is Mary Magourty.

  • Carolyn, thank you very much for coming back so quickly and sharing this information.  I'll take a look at this and see how best to match this.  It may be they moved to Scotland as their father died and joined some relatives in that area.  Indeed I can't find any record of a John Dolan in the Scottish death records so this sounds plausible.
