My 4 times great grandfather John Kelly was born in this parish in 1805 to Timothy Kelly (1780-1886) and Cecilly Farrell. For some reason he stowed away aboard a ship to Canada when he was 17. Information shows Timothy died in Cork. I am going to be visiting the area in May and am hoping to maybe find more family (no known other children) and at least get an idea of where my ancestors have come from.

  • This John Kelly must be related to my John Kelly too.  My John Kelly was born in 1835 to Michael and Elizabeth Kelly nee Duffy.  with the years of birth, I would presume my John Kelly is YOUR John Kelly's nephew.  So Your John Kelly and Michael Kelly are brothers?  Maybe a cousin from Cork?  I wonder if your John Kelly was from Westmeath?  My John Kelly married Anna Fox c1857 in Longford.  I am still trying to work out where family moved - to the bride or grooms county.    I am struggling to find information on my John.  I have everything from when he was in the Crimea War and in Australia but not much before he came here.
