Looking for any information on McCaugherns . McCahons from Rasharkin as I have ancestors from2 different families, Firstly John McCaughern 1783-1853 and Catherine McKeever from Moneyleck and secondly

John McCaughern a School teacher in Rasharkin from c 1840-1870. Born c 1813 and died in Tyanee in 1901. Married twice, second wife Jane McAuley. Also farmed at Ballydonnelly. Had at least 5 children. James who married Mary Harkness and ran a shop in Ballymena before emigrating to Troy, New York. Samuel Wallace McCaughern born Ballydonnelly 1847, who also went to Troy, Elizabeth born 1845 who was also a school teacher and also emigrated to Troy. She married Robert Ray, also from Ballydonnelly, Rasharkin. Alexander McCaughern / McCahon, my great grandfather, born Ballydonnelly c 1852. He married firstly, Elizabeth Kilpatrick from Gortahar. They emigrated to Troy, but Alexander returned to  Ballydonnelly on the death of his wife and son 1877.He went with his father to Tyanee. He married Catherine Dunlop, daughter of Hugh Dunlop of Craigs. They moved to Glasgow on the seth of John in 1901. They had 5 daughters and a son. The eldest, my gran, Matilda McCaw McCaughern was born at Ballydonnelly in 1879.

    I can see John McCaughran and son Alexander plus his family in Tyanee in the 1901 census:

    There are 34 trees on Ancestry which have this family, and clearly quite bit of research has already been done. The lead tree seems to be the Walker/Atkinson tree which is quite extensive, and which I think is yours. No point going over ground that has already been covered. What is it that you would like to find out about the family, that you don’t currently know?
