Hi my name is Jane mooney and I am from New Zealand my husband Neville mooney Gt Gt Grandfather John Mooney came from Ireland and was born in 1823. He came to NZ and married Elizabeth Fitzpatrick in nz in 1864. The stories we heard that his brothers came but when back home. We would like to find his family in Ireland if that's is possible I know it will be a big job looking for them but hope u can help. Thank you Neville and Jane

Tithe Records for Ireland have 645 with the surname "Mooney". This record was taken between 1823 and 1837.
The surname "Fitzpatrick" has 2167 during the same period.
Those records can be accessed online at www.nationalarchives.ie/Genealogy.
Was Elizabeth Fitzpatrick born in Ireland? If so, the names of her parents and also the names of John Mooney,s would help to narrow
down the the County and Parish from which they came from.
Civil BMD records in Ireland are from January 1st 1864. Church records vary and very few have records in the 1820's.
