Have been trying to find out more about my 3 x Great Grandfather John Mullan/Mullen, I've not come across his birth or marriage, his daughter Ellen registered his death in 1901 and his age was noted as 71 making him born some time around 1830. He married Elizabeth Magilton and the children including my 2 x Great Grand mother Mary Mullan 1862, were born in Belfast. I'm assuming the marriage took place in Belfast as in the Census 1901 he was the only one born in Tyrone the rest of the family including his wife were born in Belfast.
if anyone can help me or point me in the right direction in be so very grateful.

Colette,
I can’t see a marriage for John & Elizabeth in the RC parish records. If they married in Belfast it may well have been in St Mary’s. Unfortunately they have no records earlier than 1867 (though the church opened in the late 1700s). They must have ,married in 1855 or earlier as I see a baptism for Sera (Sarah) on 27.1.1855; for Mary 22.9.1861 at St Patrick’s Belfast. Possibly also an Elizabeth 29.9.1857 (mother’s maiden name is unclear). Two Margaret births in the statutory records. One on 7th Feb 1865 and the other 15th Oct 1868:
The first Margaret will have died and the name was therefore used again.
I checked to see if John left a will but he didn’t, or at least not one that required probate.
I noted a couple of children born to James Lowry & Mary Mullan – Elizabeth 9.3.1886 & Mary 8.7.1884. Both born Belfast.
