Looking for info on Patrick Kane born 1833 in Tipperary, emigrated to New York in 1861 and immediately signed up for a New York regiment in the Civil War. After the war he settled in St Clair, Pennsylvania and went back to East Docks of New York to watch passengers unload and picked up his future wife, Mary Ann Crehan from Limerick (a town near the present day Shannon Airport) and they married in 1864. It's possible they may have known each other already. Patrick was a coal miner and died in a mine fire in 1867.
I hope to find information about Patrick's family and the town he came from.
Kane seems to be a popular name in Tipperary.

Hi,
What were the names of the parents of Patrick Kane and Mary Ann Crehan. They should be recorded on the their marriage record.
Regards,
McCoy

Hi Monica,
You should get the birth records of their children and the death record of both parents. Did Mary Ann re-marry following the death of Patrick?
Those records will give you information as to who they had as baptismal sponsors for their children and they should show the names of the parents and the country in which born. Have you a record of the 1880 census?

McCoy
