My grandfather Bernard Keenan was born on 17 May 1866, his father's name was Patrick Keenan ands hs mother's name was Elizabeth Gilepsy(? Gillespie),  Patrick Keenan lived in Kerrib, Clonavaddy, Dungannon.   Looking for any information regarding siblings of Patrick and Eliuzabeth or dateoif their marriage - infact anything that woud help go further back.

    Kerrib is in the RC parish of Pomeroy. Records exists for the following years: 

    Baptisms, 1837-52, 1857-65 and 1869-81; 

    marriages,1837-65 and 1869-82; 

    deaths, 1837-40, 1857-61 and 1871-81

    Statutory birth registration started in 1864 and, in addition to Bernard, I saw the following births to Patrick & Elizabeth:

    Bridget 22.2.1864

    Michael 10.11.1867

    Patrick 11.6.1869

    John 1.1.1872

    James 10.12 1876

    I looked for Patrick & Elizabeth’s marriage but did not find it on Ancestry. There were 3 Keenan farms in Kerrib in the 1829 tithes, held by Adam, Bernard & James. One of them seems likely to be Patrick’s father:

  • Kerrib is in the RC parish of Pomeroy. It’s records start in 1837 (with some gaps). They are on the Ancestry site (and perhaps others). You can also view them free on the nli site:
