Looking for information on Thomas and Alicia Cummins. I have 2 of their children as Alicia Mary (1841) married Patrick Staunton(18640 and Mary(1843)married Robert Whelan(1863) my GG Grandparents. Both girls lived in Dublin and married at St Andrews Church. On Marys registration form parish had her address as 3 Crampton Quay and also Alicia live her too. Thomas and Alicia were shown as being from Kilcock and this is all the information I have. If any one can help with any more children they may of had or their parents and Alicia's maiden name would be of great value in tracing my family. Thanks Kay

Hi Kay,
Thank you for your message.
I did a search for Cummins in Kilcock on Griffith?s Valuation. This is a property valuation survey that was carried out in Ireland 1848-1864. I found results for Thomas in the parish it is possible that this is girls father:
Civil registration did not begin until 1864, so for information on thomas and Alicia you will have to look at the parish records. You may be able to find their marriage certificate which sometimes lists the couple?s fathers? names. If they were both born in Kilcock you should also be able to find their birth records. Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. For Kilcock parish, follow this link:
As you can see from this link Kildare Genealogy have some copies available. If you would like to contact them here is their email, however a fee may apply: kildaregenealogy@iol.ie
Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42
Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.
For any BMD?s that occurred in the family after 1864 you can check in civil records which are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:

You can search the indexes to these records online at:

Have you already tried looking at the 1901/1911 census records? These can give lots of useful information. If you haven?t already done so here is the website http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ :
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

Irish Genealogy (for church records in Dublin): http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/
I hope some of this is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
