Looking for any information about Patrick Broderick who married Catherine Boyle early in the 1800's.   Children were:

Michael, Lawrence, Bridget, Matthew, Mary and Catherine.  Maybe more.   I have traced Michael, Lawrence, Matthew (my great grandfather), Mary and Catherine to the Boston area.   1865 MA census and 1880 US census, mariage records and birth records.

Patrick Broderick is listed in Griffiths as a renter/leasee in Loughrea and the Derrybrien area.

Can anyone help me find a DOD for Patrick Broderick?

Are there Broderick families still living in the area?

Letters to the parish in Killeenadeema gave me no useable information.

Thanks for any assistance.

  • Hi Jeanne

I came across your query.Derrybrien borders  Kilbeacanty and there are Brodericks still in Kilbeacanty but as of now I do not know if they are related.

I tried to find what I could about Patrick Broderick especially on rootsireland.

    This is what I found

Married 24th april 1836 to catherine Boyle. No first name is recorded for the parents

There were two witnesses  one was John Broderick and the other was Winifred Conway.

I suspect you know this already.

The  only possible Birth or Baptism record that might be a match  is that of a Patrick Broderick born 01/01/1816

Baptised 05/01 1816 .This is the fifth of January 1816.The father is Patrick Broderick mother Honora Martin the parish is Loughrea but the address is not recorded.

The witnesses were Mary Ryan and Mary Earls.

I tried to find a death cert.but there was no one that seemed to remotely match.

I did see the Baptism of Mathew Broderick

    born 11 May 1843 Baptised 15 may 1843

    Killeenadeema

Father Patrick Broderick mother catherine Boyle

Sponsors James Boyle and Judith Scully

I also see that he was a tenent of the Marquis of Clanricarde in 1856  in the Townland of Derrybrien east and Derrybrien North which is in the parish of Killeenadeema which is in the Barony of Loughrea .I think you have this already

    Hope this helps

    Aine

  • Thank you for all the information.   Sill looking for a DOD for Patrick Broderick.   Date should be around  1870 but cannot pin it down BUT his widow, Catherine Boyle Broderick, was in the Boston area by the 1880 census.  She died in 1885 at age 65 and is buried with other family members at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

I am looking for information and dates for Joseph Boyle and his wife Catherine, parents of Catherine Boyle Broderick.   I'm guessing they were from the same area.

Also looking for any information on Bridget Broderick   the sister of my great grandfather, Matthew Broderick.  Who she married and if they stayed in Ireland or came to the states..

Again, thank yuou so very much.
