HI
My Great Grandfather was John Francis Lambe, born abt 1864, his death certificate notes his father as Mathew Lambe. I believe John Francis Lambe was born in Ireland and immigrated to Australia sometime prior to 1888 when he married in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.
I am looking for John Francis Lambe's birth certificate and immigration details as well as any information on his parents and grandparents. An y help would be appreciated as I have hit a brick wall.

Sharon,
Maybe- Per RootsIreland (paid), there was a John Lambe baptized 21 March 1860 in Templetuohy, Tipperary, parents- Matthew Lamb and Bridget Maher. I will check Ancestry to see if I can connect him to yours.

Sharon,
I found this immigration record on Ancestry??? More info about who he married and where and when he died might be useful.
Name John Lamb Gender Male Arrival Age 24 Birth Date abt 1861 Arrival Date 3 Feb 1885 Arrival Place New South Wales, Australia Origin Location Tipperary Vessel Gulf of Venice Can Read and Write Both Religion Roman Catholic Author New South Wales Government Per RootsIreland
If John's parents are Matthew and Bridget, they got married 6 February 1858 in Templetuohy, Tipperary. Matthew was a carpenter and designated himself as such until 1871. He identified himself as a farmer on his son's, Matthew, civil birth record. John's siblings were- Roderick 1858, Hanora 1862, Patrick 1864, Edmound 1865, Ellen 1868, and Matthew 1871.

Hi Mary
Thank you for the above information, I did wonder of the e on Lambe had been added later on.
John Francis Lambe married Honora Gleeson on 30 Aug 1888 in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, He died on 02 Nov 1901. He and Honora had 5 children, Harold Gleeson 1889, John Gregory Horace Roy 1893, Dorothy Veronica 1894, Maria Eileen 1898 and Francis Charles Aldsworth 1899.
All the above details are verified with documentation.

Sharon,
I wasn't able to find additional information on Ancestry connecting the John I identified to yours. There is a tree on Ancestry. Is it yours? The John I identified above was Roman Catholic. What religion did your John practice?

Yes the tree on Ancestry would be mine. John and Honora married in the Catholic Cathedral in Bendigo Victoria, Australia so they had the same religion. Also the marriage certificate has Johns surname as Lamb so the pieces seem to be fitting.
Thanks for your help

Sharon,
Per Irishgenealogy (free), a Matthew Lambe, carpenter, married, died in 1881, age 63, in Lisheen, Tipperay. He would have been born about 1818. It is about 31 miles from Templetouhy.

One concern I have about this being the right Matthew is that his daughter Honora was married in 1894 in Moyne/ Templemore, Thurles, Tipperary to Thomas Butler and Matthew was identified as a farmer and not shown as deceased. That might have been an error. Ellen Lambe was her witness, perhaps her sister.

Per RootsIreland, a Matthew Lambe was baptized Dec. 11, 1816 in Templetouhy, parents- Roger Lambe and Honora Meara. Roger could be Roderick or Rody? Matthew’s siblings were Edmund 1819, John 1821, Mary 1822, Honora 1828, Bridget 1829, and Honora 1832. Their father’s name was identified as Roderick.

Sharon,
I was not able to find info on Bridget Maher because there are a number of them being born in Templetouhy at the time she might have been born. I did find this site that mentions Mahers in the town.

There is a tree on Ancestry with Matthew and Bridgets' family. It does not include John, but we know he was the son of John and Bridget per RootsIreland.

Sharon,
As you continue your research, you should note that none of John Francis' children's names are similar to the Lamb family from Tipperary.

Sharon,
Two messages ago, I meant to say, 'son of Matthew and Bridget'.

1901 Census- Bridget living with her son. Some Ancestry trees show her dying in 1919, age 72. If she was born in 1847, she would have been too young to marry in 1858. Per Irishgenealogy, there is a Bridget Lambe connected to Templetuohy who died in 1919 but I don't think that was her.

Matthew Lamb, above 1901 census, moved to Providence, Rhode Island, USA in 1903. He married Catherine Ryan in 1907. On several of his documents he had Matthew F.. Some trees show Matthew Francis.

Yes, I picked up on that. I have done a DNA test and am awaiting the results, I am hoping that will help a little in tracking down the correct family.
Thank you again
