Searching for McEvoy information in the Ballinakill area of county Laois. We will be in that area August 31st through September 2nd, visiting Kilkenny, Laois and Tipperary research centers, looking for Ryan’s, Cahill and Walsh ancestors. I believe Matthew McEvoy and Elizabeth Phelan are my great, great, great grandparents from the Ballinakill area. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The subscription site Roots Ireland has baptismal records for four children of Mathew McEvoy and Elizabeth Phelan. All in Ballynakill RC parish.
Anastasia McEvoy baptized July 1 1798
Patrick McEvoy baptized July 1 1798 (likely died young)
Mathew McEvoy baptized February 1 1801
Patrick McEvoy baptized March 1 1805
I did not find a marriage record.

Thank you Roger. The above Matthew McEvoy emigrated to America in 1840. Can I trace his route somehow.?? Perhaps an exit point in Ireland or maybe a ship name. also, death records for his parents; Matthew McEvoy and Elizabeth Phelan ?

Likely Matthew left from Dublin but there is very little information on ships leaving Ireland at that time.
Civil registration of deaths started in 1864. From my search, it appears Matthew and Elizabeth died pre-1864 and we have very few church death records and no records for Ballinakill from 1816-1863.

Roger; may I have one more favor please? I have the sponsors for my Matthew McEvoy as Mary Tynan and Patk Glennon. I also saw a Lawlor for one other siblings baptismal. Can you tell me the other sponsors for the other children of Matthew and Elizabeth ?? I understand that often times, these would be family members or cousins. Thank you. Mark

Mark:
Here is a link to the parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0690 I looked for the four baptismal records on the register and the only entry I located was for the first Patrick in 1798. His sponsors were Daniel and Bridget Tynan. Maybe you will have more luck finding the entries for the other three children.
