Peg:
Cronin is almost exclusively a Cork and Kerry surname and in the mid-19th century there were four times as many Cork Cronins compared to Kerry Cronins.
I searched on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie which has Co.Kerry church reocrds and about half of the Co. Cork records. I found two leads which are below, one in Kerry and the other in Cork. I also searched the subscription site Roots Ireland for the other half of Cork (Dicoese of Cloyne). I searched from 1840-1850 but found no records.
I know you have 1847-1848 as the year of birth for John Cronin but many emigrants adjusted their age when they came to their new country.

Thank you so much for checking. I have attempted to follow these leads before but have gotten no where as I don't have any info on siblings or family in Ireland. How can I verify Ellen Cronin's maiden name is Cronin?
Father James J Cronin baptized my Grandfather John Cronin in 1898 here on Long Island. His parents are John J Cronin and Mary McLaughlin, the sponsors are Catherine Cronin and John Cronin. When I researched Fr Cronin I found a lot of Cronin names associated with his travels to and from Ireland but I don't know the exact location in Irelandn they were from.

Sorry just realized I typed 1898 not 1896 for my Grandfather John E Cronin's birth.

Peg:
I believe that Ellen Cronin was her maiden name. If you look at the parish register https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634158#page/89/mode/1up you can see that the priest showed the maiden name for all the other mothers so this leads me to believe her maiden name was Cronin.
Regarding Fr. Cronin and his trips, have you looked at the actual ships record which you can find at www.ellisisland.org I believe they only have records up to 1924. Can you look at his trips from 1908-1924 on the Ellis Island site. There should be information which shows a contact person in Ireland. Hopefully there is and you will gets some clues on who and where he was visiting.

I am trying verify if this is my GGgrandfather's family. I am looking for any emigration information in any on year they would have left where they disembarked at and occupation and any other family members. I found out Norry could be Nora but I can't find July anywhere. Do you know what the non Latin translation would be? Are the Cronins still in the area?

Peg:
July is likely a nickname for Julia.
There won't be any emigration records in Ireland so you will have to look for Castle Garden records where they came into NYC.
Have you looked at the 1870 and 1880 censuses?
Have you checked out the Ellis Island records for Fr. Cronin?

Thank you for responding
I have a lot of information on Fr Cronin in the USA. He was born here and went back to Ireland as a child.

I am trying get a connection between the list of Cronin names on the ship that came over with Fr Cronin at different times and John Cronin son of James and Ellen Cronin. I am hoping that will verify that the James Croin and Ellen Cronin from Inchigleelagh are not only the parents of John Cronin my GGGrandfather but are related to some of people Fr Cronin brought over later.
