Hello-
I am searching for information on the Gibbons family near Louisburgh. My great-grandparents were Geoffrey and Mary Gibbons - Gibbons was also her maiden name. Both born 1846 on their gravestone in Cleveland, Ohio. Immigrated to U.S. about early to mid 1870's. Their first 2 children Catherine and Mary were born in Mayo and I have found records. My grandmother, Bridget, (aka) Delia was born in March 1874. Some records like census and births of her children have different birthplaces for her... most say county Mayo, Ireland, but I can find no record or proof of her birth in either Ireland or Ohio. Any ideas if it's possible to find an answer?
My great-grandfather, Geoffrey Gibbons, parents were Walter Gibbons and Mary Lyons. My great-grandmaother, Mary Gibbons, parents were Redmond Lyons and Bridget "Biddie" McMyler. They were from Askillaun and AcconyThiar(Roonaugh).
There are so many Gibbons and Lyons in Mayo and so many with the same names that it is difficult to figure out which is correct. With information through a contact on Ancestry I visited Killeen Cemetery where my 3rs great-grandparents, Redmond Lyons and Bridget McMyler graves are. There were 113 Gibbons and 44 Lyons buried there !! Some were probably my ancestors also!
I visited Ireland in 2018 and toured county Mayo -- a beautiful place I hope to return to someday. Through online research and using Griffiths Valuation records and help from the Louisburgh post office I was able to find the property that Walter Gibbons leased from the Marquis of Sligo on Carromore road, not far outside Louisburgh. There were several plots of land of considerable size, like 50, 52, 60 acre plots. The names listed as co-lessors with Walter Gibbons were John Gibbons, Thomas Gibbons, Thomas Gibbons, Jr. , Jeffrey Gibbons and Michael Durkan.
If anyone has any info about these Gibbons or Lyons, Please share. Thanks.

Hello Linda,https://registers.nli.ie/
I'll take a look today. I have GIbbons from the same rough area, but in Kilmeena parish. Like you, Gibbons can be hard to trace because the surname is quite common. It seems like you have done research on your line with Griffiths Valuation. Have you looked at some of the Parish Records on https://registers.nli.ie/?
There are some baptisms here: http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/Mayo/LouisburghBaptisms.htm - Have you built out as many siblings and relations of your ancestors?
I have a few home projects to take care this Sunday, but I will take a look later today.
cheers,
John
