Hi from Brisbane Australia, finally tracked down one our many Irish ancestors
Robert Maxwell (herclues Place) b 01/01/1879 baptised St Peters Belfast 26/01/1874 Father James Maxwell mother Eliza (Elizabeth m/s Davey) it appears he was a 15 year old convert to the catholic faith? as did his sister
Margaret Mary Sophia Maxwell dob shown as 01/01/1861 date of baptism 25/10/1874 St Peter's in Belfast (convert father protestant)
and lastly their sister Martha Maxwell dob not noted but date of baptism 27/7/1863 again the notation is Father Presbyterian
I assume that it was unusual in this era to swap from one to swap religions? Why would this be, i cannot find a marriage between Elizabeth Davey and James Maxwell.
Looking for any ancestors currently living in the area as we are coming to Ireland in February 2013.
Both my husband and I like back to Ireland on both sides of our family, this is the only confirmation we have - we have lots of names but no knowledge of where any of them came from.
thanks

Hi Maria,
Just read your post re the Maxwells. I am searching for information on Oliver Maxwell who was transported to Australia in 1827 at age 16. One thing that jumped out at me was the name Martha. I believe Oliver's mother may have been a Martha - possibly Martha Keith and married to Frances Maxwell. I also believe that Oliver had a brother Robert (death notice in SMH in NSW mentioning Oliver) and a brother William based in Scotland.
I was wondering if any of this resonates with the information you may have. I hope you have a wonderful trip to Ireland this year.
Many thanks,
Lesley
