My grandfathers younger and older brothers were both born in Killyleagh and I can find records of their births. I am unable to find any records of my grandfathers birth though. His death certificate lists his birth as Crosgar, June 19, 1896. I was wondering if there is a way to find out if there are any local records for baptisms back then. My grandfathers name was Robert Samuel Hood. His father (my great grandfather) was Robert Hood and the local Constable at the time.
any insight or help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Going by the 1901 census the family was Church of Ireland:

Crossgar is in the parish of Kilmore. (Killyleagh registration area). Kilmore Church of Ireland records start in 1820. They have been copied and those for 1896 (and later years) are in PRONI in Belfast. Personal visit required to view them. If you are unable to go yourself, you could employ a researcher. Researchers in the PRONI area: http://sgni.net
Rootsireland (subscription) also has some years for that parish but my guide to Church of Ireland records does not say which years. 1896 may not be incliuded.
