My 2nd great grandfather listed Woodbed as his home town on his marriage registry.  He was married in Cloonfad.  I believe Woodbed (Kilnalappa) is in the parish of Dunmore.  Any information any of you have would be great. I have attached a copy of the marriage registry.   Thanks.Ireland Reaching Out - www.irelandxo.com

  • You could check marriage record for Michael Dowling (father of Bridget) in Rootsireland.ie There are only four to choose from in Co. Roscommon.

  • Hi there,

Firstly, I'm brand new to this site so apologies if I'm not addressing you all in the correct manner!

I've recently started researching my family tree and upon discovering that my maternal grandmother's grandad JOHN COMER came from Dunmore, I'd like to know more about him, or his Irish family as I cannot seem to find anything further.

His DOB is roughly 1858 and I can't find the date or even year he came over to England from Ireland but he married my maternal grandmother's grandmother Mary Ann Cain (born in Rotherham, her parents were Irish, John Cain born c1837 and Margaret Faweley born c1833 in Tipperary)  on 15th August 1882 in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England in Masbrough St Bede's RC church (his surname was spelled as COMAH). He appears on the Census of 1891 as JAMES COMER, 1901 as JOHN COMER and 1911 Census as JOHN JAMES COMER.

I would really appreciate any help with any information about John (John James?) or his family.

    Thanks in advance,

    Catherine Hall
