Hello,  we are a group of Caldwells traveling from Canada to ireland in August.  We want to visit the area where our ancestors came from which is the Townland of Drumsheil.  We are travelling in a private tour bus (16 of us).  The farm house burned down in the 1930s and the property was divided up.  Robert Caldwell was the last Caldwell to own the land.  He died in the 1930s. The stone gatehouse is still standing . I would like to know if anyone familiar with area is able to send me a picture of / or directions to this gatehouse so we can find it.  Thank you.

You can have a look around Drumsheil townland on Google Street view maps - there only seems to be one road running through the townland. I had a quick look along where the entrances were to Drumsheil house on the eastern side of the road but saw no sign of a gatehouse. The historic OSI maps show a lodge at the northern entrance - see attached images, there seems to be a modern house at this location now.

A clearer view of the townland can be seen on the GeoHive/OSI maps search for Drumsheil, select aerial and historic 6" colour maps layers and use the selection/transparency slider to adjust the view between the modern aerial view and the c1840 map which shows the townland boundary in red.
