If I know where to find information/documentation on James parents hopefully I can know find

information/documentation for James Higgins.

James father was Edward Higgins born 1800? unknown location in Ireland. No names of his parents.

James mother was Catherine Hart? but marriage document on Ancestry shows her as Cath Harty born in 1800?  unknown location in Ireland. No names of her parents.

Edward and Catherine married April 23, 1821 in Youghal, Cloyne, Ireland.  Document is very unclear.

 

James moved to Scotland and married Sarah Donnelly, born in 1829 in Scotland.

They had many children, one being my great grandmother Mary Higgins born in 1870 in Scotland.

    Hello Eileen,

     

    As your query goes back to the early 1800's, unfortunately the information given in any document is very sparse. I came across their marriage cert  - see image below and yes on the NLI it is very hard to read and there is very little info given. 
    on Griffiths Valuation there are some Higgins/Harty's there -  https://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cork/youghal.htm   

    Also had a look at the local North Abbey Cemetery and earliest is dated 1907 for a Thomas Higgins. 

    With so little information, it is very hard to get answers - and our Ancestors love to play hide and seek with us.
