  • Hi Eimer.

Thanks for your very quick reply but my grandmothers maiden name was Curran so Conroy by marriage any sisters would be Curran and she died in 1914 so search would have to be 1914, the Conroy you  found seems to be 1934/5.

Her son my father was born 1st Jan 1908 he died in 1971, he had a sister (my aunt May) born 1905 her birth name was Mary Joseph .

She lived in Inchicore Dublin and died some years since 1989.

I intend to come to Galway later this year God willing,

If only I had asked my Father or Aunt May I would have had some if not all the answers .

I have been very lucky to get such a quick reply only joined the website a couple of days since.

So once again many thanks .

    my very best wishes

  • Hi John,

No worries, I was interested as my grandfather Edward Shea was born just up from Quay Street on High Street in 1912.

I hope you can find out more.

  • Have you searched for the family in the 1901 & 1911 Censuses? I found one family on Quay Lane that has a daughter Mary Joseph in 1901 (perhaps an aunt) and an grandniece Mary J. in 1911.

With you grandfather and father names, you might be able to confirm or further track them all down. If you look at the actual document, there are some more clues. The only one married in the household in 1911 is Neal.  Is he the father? It also shows that Mary J. (5) was born in Cork.  So perhaps that's where Margaret and your father were at this point?
