Hello i am Dave and i live in Missouri U.S.A. and am tracing down my Irish roots.I am looking for any help with William Braly that was married to Margaret Agnes Wood (Scottish). They are both important to me but being Margaret is Scottish  i dont think you would have much on her. William though i hope to find what Parish he is from and any other details. I do know he was born in 1685 in Derry Cavin and he married Margaret in 1704 in his home town. They had 13 Children and after his Death in 1731 she came to America. If you have any information that would be great. Thank You. David Booher

  • David:

I assume your ancestors were Church of  Ireland. There are very few parishes in Ireland which have records back to the early 1700s. I did try a search on the subscription site Roots Ireland but did not locate the marriage record or the baptismal records for the children. Just as a point of Information, Co. Londonderry and Co. Cavan were two different counties in Ulster province. Co. Londonderry is now known as Co. Derry and is one of the six counties in Northern Ireland. Co. Cavan is now part of the Republic of Ireland.

If you have not done so already, you may want to consider a DNA test.

  • Hi Dave, your surname is unusual.  Howeve if they came from Derry, Cavan, there is a townland in Shercock, Co. Cavan called Derry, it is confusing when you have places with the same names.  But this information may be of use to you.
