First, Id like to say "THANK YOU" for letting me in, and I appreciate any info you may have. My gggggrandfather was borne in Donegal "about 1775." Charles McCafferty. Sometime between his birth and 1810 he came to America. I know this from marriage records that he got married in Pennsylvania in 1810.
I have searched ship manafests with no luck, and not knowing exactly when he immigrated here, who his parents were, whether he came as an endentured servant, as a child,
I would appreciate any leads and info.
Again, Thank You

K C McCafferty:
Records for Co. Donegal RC parish start for the msot part around 1850 or later. There are no records back to "about 1775".
The only suggestion I could provide is to test your DNA and see if you get any leads on the parish for Charles McCafferty.

K C, "The US Fed Census of 1850 shows that Charles McCafferty (b:1800), and wife, Margaret (b: 1807,) had at least 8 children: Mary J., Harriet, Charles, Jr., Alexander, Emma, Robert, Margaret and Isabelle. Charles and Margaret were born in Ireland, all the children except Margaret and Isabelle were born in Pennsylvania, the latter two in Ohio. They lived on a 72a farm in Winchester Township, in Adams County, Ohio. Baptismal records show that Robert was baptized at St. Martin Church, St. Martin, Ohio in 1841. When Charles and Margaret passed away they were buried in Mt. Leigh Cemetery in Seaman, Adams County, Ohio. Margaret died at 79 yrs. and Charles died at 86 the same year in 1886".
The excerpt is from a biography I wrote about Dennis McCafferty who we think was Charles's brother. "A Short Biography of Dennis McCafferty of Brown County, Ohio (1796-1865)" by William A. McCafferty, Dec 2012.
The dates for your Charles are much earlier than for my Charles. I wonder if your Charles had children with any of the names above, many times in the Irish tradition children get the same names as their aunts and uncles.. Perhaps my Charles was a son of your Charles. I
