Looking for any history in relation to GGrandfather John McKay. It is my belief that he was born Abt 1826 in Kildare Ireland. At some stage he went to Australia and Married Emma Bryant (some spelling variations) Born 14/07/1839 on the 18/08/1878 in Carcoar NSW. In the 1860's they were on the Kings Plains Gold Fields.
Any help much appreciated.
Kind Regards,
David

Hi David,
There is a baptismal record on rootsireland.ie for John MacKey 1825 county Kildare - the spellings varied considerably back then with illiteracy and transcription inaccuracies.
rootsireland is a pay site so it will cost a few $ to get the record but will give you the parish and parents' names.
Alternatively or as well you may want to purchase a transcript of his marriage certificate from NSW BDM's which will give you the parents' names also. You can get a transcription for $18.

Hi Col,
Thanks for your response. I will go there and have a look. Never heard of that site. Have transcript of Death & Marriage. His Marriage certificate has very little information no parents, etc only states he was a labourer and a bachelor both he and Emma only have comments like "Not Stated"
Thanks anywa, appreciate any further information if you come across it.
Kind Regards
David
