I am looking for more information on the Leyne and Crowley families of Co. Kerry. Here is what I know. I would be grateful for any help you could offer!

My ancestor Cornelius was baptised on August 17th 1803 in Killarney, Co. Kerry.  The parents are listed as John Leyne and Margaret Leary.  Their residence was listed as Lisivigeen Killarney, Co. Kerry. Later Cornelius Leyne married Mary Crowley on April 20, 1834 in Castleisland. One of the witnesses is named Cornelius O’ Leary.  This is likely the father or brother of Margaret Leary Leyne and the relative whom Cornelius Leyne is named after.  Cornelius Leyne and Mary Crowley have several children: Johanna, John, Ellen, and Cornelius. The family moves at some point to St. Giles, England, then immigrates to America on the ship Goodwin, arriving from London to New York Ciy on 1 Nov, 1851. Also with them is an Ellen Crawley, probably a sister or niece of Mary Crowley Leyne. Crowley.

In the Griffiths Valuation published  there are three Crowleys listed in the parish of Castleisland in 1851– Mary, Denis and Jeremiah.  These are likely the family of Johanna Leyne’s mother. Later at the marriage of Patrick Simon Hogan and Johanna Leyne in St. Louis the witnesses are named Denis and Maria Crowley.  The witness Denis Crowley is more likely to be a relative of Johanna Leyne through her mother Mary Crowley than a neighbour of Patrick Simon from Ballinspittal.

According to marriage records in the United States, Johanna Leyne was born to Cornelius Leyne and Mary Crowley on 15 June 1833 in Ireland. Shortly after that, the family appears to move to St. Giles, England, where subsequent children are born.
