Looking for Lyng Family

If you go the www.rootsireland.ie you will find church records there for most of ireland .  The remailing few counties are at www.irishgenealogy.ie

I went to roots ireland and did a general search for james lyng.  the surname is unusual and that makes it much easier to track ancestors.

I found the baptismal record for james lyng  father william  mother elizabeth ryan in 1877 Co Kilkenny.

It would cost you about €5 to view this record.

I then went looking for the marriage record for William lyng and only found two records.  Both records are for Co. kilkenny.

I would safely say that the 1873 record might be yours.  It's such an unusual name that both records are probably related.

I have the Baptismal info from James Lyng.

I went to Rootsireland.ie and found the marriage record for William Lyng but it does not appear to be the correct William Lyng.  Wife is Collins.

William lyng and Bridget Collins were my great grandparents. James Lyng their son was born around 1880 and they had a number of other children including Annie.you can check the Irish census info, 1911. James became a teacher and emigrated to Montreal,Canada. He married Bridget MacGowan around 1915.He died in 1956 and had 6 children. 5 made it to adulthood, all have passed. the youngest 11 years ago.In the 70s i visited the family homestead in Castlecomer. I have some other info as the emigration is comparatively recent ie in the 20th .
