  • Pol,

How certain are you that Margaret's maiden name was Kielthy? Looking at the civil registration records for Philip, Nicholas, and Margaret; I found records for their births with the father James Murphy and the mother Margaret Somers. I could not locate any birth records for these children with Keilthy as mother's name, nor a marriage record for James and Margaret Kielthy.

    Regards,

  • Not certain for Kielthy but Somers doesn't ring a bell either...My grandmother has told us that her mother died when she was about 12. I am back to the drawn board again i suppose....thanks so much for your help.

  • Pol,

On the 1901 census, there were 4 children identified- Mary 15, Philip 9, Nicholas 6 , Margaret 2. Do you know what happened to the other children? Based on the 1884 marriage date they would be 16 or younger in 1901. Margaret, their mother, died between the 1901 and 1911 census. The only marriage record I could find for a Margaret Kielthy was on Ancestry and Irish genealogy. She married James Moran in 1883 in Wexford.

  • Hi Mary,

I dunno what happened to the children and I am not certain of Kielthy, maybe I should look at the Somers name more deeply. I have done a DNA test now in the hope that it would help, but so far I haven't had much success.

    Thanks so much again Mary
