I'd really like to know more about where in Ireland my family is from. I believe my 3rd great grandfather is Patrick Hickey born 1847. I think he went to America as a baby. My best guess at the fathers name is Daniel, I think he may have had a brother Thomas. I'm not sure though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Bit of bad news to start with, there are 12 registered baptisms for people with the name Patrick Hickey in 1847 alone but none with a father named Daniel

    But there is a Patrick Hickey born in 1844 county Tipperary with father Daniel and there is a Patrick Hickey born in 1839 county Waterford.

    One result  for the name Thomas Hickey with father Daniel, this Thomas was born in 1845 Cork .

    Have you tried to get all available information from the United States?   sometimes marriage, death and census records can reveal more information about where the people are from and in some cases even the parents names.

  • Thank you for the reply. Here is a little more info, I hope its more accurate as well.
    Daniel Hickey born 1820 he married Nancy Ryan she was born in 1814

    Son Thomas Hickey born 1840
    Son Patrick (P?) Hickey born 1847
    They Left Ireland in 1849.

    Any info you can provide would be appreciated.
