It has been a lifelong dream of my grandma's to visit Ireland and meet an Irish McCalmant!  I'm bringing her to Ireland at the end of June and we'll be staying in Killenard, Dromoland, Blarney and Dublin (6 day non-guided tour).  I am most interested in finding any McCalmant family members that we could look up - distance is not a factor!

Thank you!

  • MacLysaght's The Surnames of Ireland has just a tiny writeup on MacCalmont:

"A sept of the Scottish clan Buchanan; the name is fairly numerous in Co. Antrim since the seventeenth century.  MIF  See MacColman"

"MacColman  A variant of MacCalmont, quite distinct from O'Colman."
