Looking for birth record for William Turton circa 1881.  Census says he was born in Tipperary but that may not be true.  There may be a Northern Ireland connection. Also looking for marriage record for William Turton and Mary Byrne circa 1910.  She is from Wicklow.  Keep coming to a dead end.

Thanks,

Jean

  • Hello Jean and welcome to Ireland Reaching Out

I found a William Edward Turton who married an Elizabeth Byrne in Naas on the 26th Jan1916. (file attached)

He was a soldier (Naas area and Kildare would have had at that time a large army presence in the Curragh army base)

    John Turton was his father

Do you think this could be your William

  • Hi Geraldine,

Thank you for trying. I had found him but my William married a Mary Byrne and they had two children in 1911 and 1913.  I have no marriage cert for them so it's odd.  I have since found William in The Royal Dublin Fusiliers serving in Gallipoli in 1915 and 1916 so need to dig further there.  He was from Concrete in Milltown.  I did wonder if Elizabeth and Mary were one and the same and that they were only getting married in 1916 but that would be strange for the time. Also interesting that both were soldiers.
