  • Hi Judith,

The name Nibbs seems to be more common then the name Knibbs, there are some records with the name in Dublin dating from 1701  to 1900 and onwards but also in other Irish counties.

In order to find out where your relatives came from it would be great to have a little more information like first names and dates even estimated dates will do.

I will be pleased to help

  • Hi Annemarie,

My ancestor came from Ireland but went to England in the 1800's(?).While he was there he was charged with "Machine breaking" and sent as a convict to Australia.Until recent times I did not know this because it was not "fashionable" to have convict heritage. His name may have been Job or Lynton as these names figure strongly in my father's family.

    Have a great day,God bless.Judith.
