Looking for the marriage of Michael Dillon and Catherine Connel.  I believe that their son, Patrick Dillon, could by my gg grandfather.  Patrick was baptized on Dec. 3 1819 in Inchigeelagh.  I have researched other Patrick Dillons in Cork.  This one seems best fitted to the age information I have in the Trenton, New York Census information for 1850, 1860 and 1870  Patrick Dillon married Catherine Hease in Rosscarbery Feb. 1, 1845.  Two daughters were born in Ireland prior to the family's departure to New York in April 1850.  Daughter Catherine was baptized in Rosscarbery Dec. 18, 1845.  Daughter Ellen was baptized in Rosscarbery July, 1848.  Family was located in Tullig townland 1845 and Ardagh townland 1848.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Michael Dillon and Catherine Connell had at least two other children baptized in Iveleary RC parish. There was a Catherine Dillon baptized February 21, 1817 and a Mary Dillon October 5, 1826.

You may want to scan the register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0062 between 1819 and 1826 to see if there were other records.

Records for Iveleary start in November 1816 and likely the Michael Dillon/Catherine Connel occured before then.

  • Hi Roger,

Thanks for the quick response and the information.  I'll look through the parish records to see if there are more siblings.  Hopefully I can connect the dots and find relatives through DNA.  I have tested Ancestry and FTDNA Y-67.  May be some ancestors of the siblings have tested also.

    Cheers,
