Over twenty years searching for the origin of my convict GGG grandmother, sentenced on the Isle of Man in 1833 and transported as SARAH LYNCHEY. An IoM "dissenter baptism" suggests she may have been born MULLAN, and that her husband's Christian name may have been MICHAEL. The only indication of a birth year or place comes from convict records which indicate birth C1785, and birth place COUNTY DOWN. Can anyone suggest how I should pursue this search further? Are there County Down records in the newly recovered records in Dublin?

I presume that your ancestor was RC. Only two RC parishes in Co. Down have records back to the late 18th century. I checked the subscription site Roots Ireland and there was only one Sarah Mullan baptismal record around 1785-- a Sarah Mullan baptized in the Magherlin Church of Ireland parish in 1789 with father Charles. Likely not your ancestor.
The recent Public Records Office project that you mention did not involve RC records since those records were never held in the Public Records Office in Dublin.
Have you considered DNA testing?

Thank you Roger, it seems that there is little room for research. Given what is known here as the "Convict Stain" it is unlikely that family in Ireland would have gone out of their way to remember and record Sarah and her family. Twenty plus years, I will keep hoping. Thank you for your response.
I have had my DNA done and infact found a descendant of Sarahs in Cheshire. we correspond.
