In researching my family, I have got as far as my great grandfather William Magrath (b.1837/41).  He lived at numerous addresses around the St George's area, Dublin after marrying Eliza Crowe in 1862.

I have logged their children - Susanna or Susan Charlotte, Annie Mary, Elizabeth Margaret, William Christopher, Hannah, Robert Francis (my grandfather), Cecilia, Willemina and Harriet..  William was a Law Clerk or scrivenery clerk, as was his wife's father James Crowe.  I think a brother may have been Robert Charles Magrath (also a law clerk) who married Cecilia Flynn (nee Rich).  Robert's father was also a William & a Law Clerk, and Robert & Cecilia's children were called more or less the same as William's - Charlotte Susan, Cecilia Mary Loftus, William Christopher McLean, Susanne, Anne Margaret and Robert Charles.  They lived near each other in Capel St when their first children were born.  I have no other proof that they were brothers.

William Magrath's father was Clerk to the Court of Chancery in the Second Examiner's Office and also called Willliam.  I have found him claiming compensation at a House of Lords Committee in 1858 along with a Christopher Magrath (a brother?).  William said he had been a scrivenery clerk for 18 years (since 1840) and Christopher for 12 years (since 1846).

Griffiths have William  at 38 Summer St N. in 1854 and in 1862. In 1862 a Christopher Magrath is also registered at this address in the Dublin Directory . William (Jnr) gave this as his address on marriage in 1862.

I'd be glad for any more info on the Magraths or links to them.  Or on Eliza Crowe's family - I think her sister may have been Hannah, who married John Lawler, but can't be certain.  I have no info as to if the Magraths were always Dublin residentsor where Eliza Crowe came from.  There may have been Huguenot connections.
