I'm looking for information about Margaret Henighan and Daniel Holmes who arrived in Canada in 1847. I have
Daniel died on board the ship or shortly after their arrival at Quebec City.
The rest of the family, Patrick, Anthony, Thomas, William and Owen, travelled to and settled in Cantley, Quebec, near Ottawa.
Any information would be appreciated.

Hi,
Thanks for your message.
Do you know what part of Ireland the family originated from? Do you have any documentation that mentions a townland/parish/village/town or even a county? Once you have narrowed down the area where they came from it will be much easier to look for information on the family.
Do you know much about their emigration? Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than that of departure. If you knew where they arrived this may be a place to find more information and perhaps even an exact place of origin. For immigration information in Canada check the Natioanl Archives and Library at http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/index-e.html
