Maria Ryan posted a message in July about her ancestors Thomas Hayes and Margaret Madden.
I am descended from Margaret and Thomas (ggg grandparents).
Their daughter Mary Hayes m.James Young (from Corlismore in Co.Cavan) and had a son called Mark.
Mark Young m Emma Clark and had a daughter called Mary Ellen who is my grandmother.
Any information about Thomas and Margaret would be most welcome.
Some of their children were born around Kilteely in Co.Limerick and they lived in Limerick city as well I believe.

Hi Frank
My name is David Whyte. I'm a Development Officer with Ballythoura Development. After Christmas we will be conducting a survey of historic graveyards in east Limerick including around Kilteely and south of Pallasgreen (also nearby). The surveys will take place up to early summer next year. All data will end up on the website Historic Graves --> https://historicgraves.com/. This is a great resource for anyone researching family history and contains photos of landscapes, graveyards and individual plots. You should keep an eye on this! On the home page you can use the map feature to navigate around Limerick country. Almost 30 graveyards in Limerick will be added in the coming months to what is already there. If you have any more questions about the project or want to keep in touch you can contact me on dwhyte@ballyhoura.org.
It might also be worth getting in contact with Limerick Historical Socierty http://www.limerickhistoricalsociety.ie/ and perhaps also with Pallasgrean Templebredon Historical Society as they may have information on Kiltelly history and families https://www.facebook.com/Pallasgrean-and-Templebraden-Historical-Societ…;

Hello Frank, I have just seen David's reply to your recent enquiry concerning Margaret Madden and Thomas Hayes and the other members of that family. Having a brief look, there is something like 3000 opeople of that name around the local areas but sadly without any dates at all, I don't really have a chance to look further. I did write to you before but perhaps you did not receive the request to send me something - Have you perhaps managed to find anything from your end?
Please do let me know and I will follow up whatever I am able

Hello Jennifer
I have just read your reply to Frank. Thomas Hayes and Margaret Madden are my great great grandparents. Their children were born in the 1840s. The family story is that Thomas and Margaret ‘died in the famine’ but I suspect it might have been in the 1850s. I have found no records. Their children were Mary, Bridget, Johanna, Honorah, Margaret and Timothy. They supposedly were placed into the care of their uncle. I think this uncle was Fr John Madden, PP at Kilteely. The three youngest children came to Victoria, Australia in 1860 and the three older girls came in the late 1850s. I cannot find any baptism records for the children though there is a John Madden born to Thomas Hayes and Margaret Maddin ( slightly different spelling) in 1849 in Pallesgreen. There is no record of a John coming to Australia so perhaps he died with his parents. All records for the children who came to Australia simply say they came from Limerick (not cited as either the city or the County) except for Margaret’s death certificate which says Kilteely, Limerick. If you are able to find any extra information I would really appreciate it. I do not know who Frank Griffen is but he must be a relative. Mary Hayes and James Young are also my great grandparents but I am descended from their daughter Margaret.
Regards. Maria Ryan
