  • Hello

Just quick question - is it Rahan in County Offaly there is also Rahan in Cork and maybe others.

Have you checked out the 1901 and 1911 census online which are free to search.

Had quick look for Barrett in census and can see no Barrett in Rahan in Co Offaly (Kings County) but there are loads of Barretts in Co Cork in Rahan.

Also checked Magner - none in Rahan in Offaly but there are some in Cork.

Try post on Cork page as well.

    Hope some help

  • Many thanks for your reply -  Rahan County Cork. Bridget and her husband (John Magner) emigrated to NZ in 1874 so will not appear in census records of 1901 & 1911 however I am sure they left family particularly Magners behind is a matter of tracing their direct ancestors.

  • Sorry Lorraine

Know now what happened - when you put in Rahan it came up on the Parish page I am subscribed to i.e Rahan in County Offaly.

If I come across anything I will send it to you.  In the mean time I hope you have some success searching its a long process isnt it.
