Hi

I am trying to find the family of Mary O'Shaunessy born 1783 who married Edward Elliott born 1770 at Ballyhahill. They married 1806 St Mary's Cathedral, Limerick. Edward was sentenced to life in the Colony of NSW in 1823, charged  under the Insurrection Act 1822, he was a dancing master, and was a Whiteboy rebel. Mary and his son Edward 15, and Johanna aged 18, joined Edward in the Colony.  I would appreciate any information on the O'Shaunessy family in Shanagolden.

Thanks for any help

Joanne

  • Dear Joanne:

Many thanks for your query to the Ireland Reaching Out message board.  We have a very knowledgeable volunteer who may be able to assist.  I will forward this post to her and you should hear back within a week or so.

In the meantime, please consider creating an Ancestor profile under the XO Chronicles section of the website.  These profiles are created by all our members and are a great way of sharing and collaborating with others for family research.  If you have any questions, please let me know at:  jhalloranryan@irelandxo.com.

  • I was recently privately contacted by someone else about this same family. Here is a copy and paste of some of our back and forth emails. I have to believe you and Reg are searching the SAME Elliott family. If you're interested, I can contact him and see if he'd be willing to get in touch with you. Please reply to this board.

    Thanks,

They seem to be related to McElligotts because of some common ancestors.

Most interested in knowing if there are any current relatives in the area.

Some family trees on Ancestry but seems to repeat below.

Little info on the two sisters of Edmond.
