I am looking for information on Mary Russell, who married Patrick Lynch some time around 1864-1865. I believe she was born around 1847, but not sure. Patrick was born, probably, in 1841 and his parents were Thomas Lynch and Mary Griffin (or Davis, not sure). I don't know Mary's parents' names. They had at least five children, who were baptized in St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Cork: Ellen, David J, Bridget Mary Josephine, Mary Elizabeth and Thomas Joseph. Bridget was my grandmother and emigrated to New York in about 1894. Her brother David seems to have gone to the Boston, MA area. Mary Russell Lynch, according to the 1901 and 1911 Irish censuses, as well as the 1910 US Census (for Bridget), was born in Ireland, but I have no specifics. Any information that would lead to her parents names would be much appreciated.

Mary Russell from Barrackton in Cork City married Patrick Lynch, same homeplace on 3 Oct 1863, in the parish of St Patricks Cork City, witnessed by Charles Riordan and Jane Burke.
I found Mary Anne Russell born in the parish of St Patricks Cork City on 29 Aug 1843. The residence is given as Fosters Lane. Her parents are Thomas Russell, and interestingly Mary Lynch. As they lived nearby, Patrick and Mary could have been relatives.
Thomas and Mary married 22 Jan 1821, witnessed by James Russell and Judith Lynch.
The children of Thomas Russell and Mary Lynch of Cork City were:
Timothy 17 June 1827
Margaret 25 Oct 1829
Cornelius 8 Feb 1832
Julia 6 Aug 1836
Mary Anne 19 Jul 1838 Likely died in infancy
Mary Anne 29 Aug 1843
Ellen 1 Oct 1845
I used findmypast free baptismal records to find this which is not that complete of a collection so there was likely more children. The Russells originally lived in the parish of St Marys Cork City beofre moving to St Patricks.

Apologies- the above post posted twice
I found the following possibilities for Thomas Russell, father of Mary in the parish of St Marys, Cork City.
Thomas Russell born 10 June 1789 to John Russell and Mary Callaghan
Thomas born Oct 1806 to John Russell and Julia Hyde
Thomas born 13 Dec 1806 to Thomas Russell and Barbara Stanton
Thomas born 31 Dec 1785 to William Russell and Margaret Mullane
I'll look for a death cert to see if we can narrow down the search.
Hope some of this info helps!

I couldnt find a birth record for Mary Lynch, mother of Mary Russell. As her marraige witness is Judith Lynch, I'm presuming she is her sister. I found a birth record for Judy Lynch in the parish of St Marys Cork City on 14 Jun 1806, daughter of Owen Lynch and Mary Brien. Judith was an unusual name so this is likely the same family. Besides Mary and Judith, Owen and Mary had at least one other child, James, born 25 Feb 1813.
I found a marraige record for Owen and Mary: Eugene (anglicization of Owen) Lynch and Mary Brien married 19 Nov 1807 in the parish of St Finbarrs, Cork City, likely Mary Brien's homeplace. Only problem is Judith is recorded as being born a year earlier. But it seems so perfect of a match so theres always a possibility Judiths birthdate was a mis transcription by findmypast.

Wow, Alicia!
You really came up with some valuable information. Thank you so much. I had a different Mary Russell, who was born in Scotland, and whose ancestors I traced back to all the nobility of Scotland, England, France, Germany and Italy. But I guess I have to chuck 1000 years of research over this one glitch! I will have a look in "find my past" to see if I can obtain original documents. If you ever need anything, please let me know. I am Yours Truly,

No problem Chris. Also what would be worth looking at is roots ireland, it is a subscription site but I've heard it has one of the most complete parish record collections and could be very usual for tracking down Marys siblings, her parents siblings, etc.
Good luck with your research!

Ref: Patrick Lynch and Mary Russell, above,
I thought it would be helpful if I mentioned the following facts: My father's sister was May RUSSELL Braun and my father's other sister Marjorie Braun's children were Charles BRAUN Ludlam and Donald RUSSELL Ludlam. It seems the Irish side of my father's family (his mother, Bridget Lynch, daughter of Patrick) had a penchant for using family surnames as middle names. Bearing that in mind, my father's brother was called Louis GAMBLE Braun. I suspect there is a GAMBLE in the mix in my Cork relatives. Does that stir anything up among you good people?
Cheers,
Christopher Braun
