Hi Dennis, well now I am confused and I would appreciate if you will tell me where you got your information from? I have hunted Limerick and Tipperary thoroughly - the baptism for Mary in 1834 does not show however I do have several Mary Tierney's around but 1832/1833/1836 - about 12 in all, none show father as Timothy or mother as Ellen.

Also Knocklong and Glenbrohane are in Limerick but the Diocese Cashel and Emly are in Tipperary

The only record that I can find for Waters is Ellen Waters of Rootiagh (Rathkeale, Limerick) married to Timothy Corbett  of Kilteely (Cashel) The marriage was on 14.Feb 1820 in Hospital-Herbertstown (Limerick) The witness were Michael Waters and John Corbett

So could it possibly have been Corbett and NOT Tierney? the area is the same and there are very few Waters to show

Hi Denis,

I just came across query now. Timothy Tierney and Ellen Waters  lived in the parish of Cloughjordan ,county Tipperary and they had 7 children including Mary. Ellen emigrated to Canada with her children after Timothy was transported.Last year i was in touch with Tanya Whatman in Australia who is a descendant of Timothy's children .Tanya was trying to identify where in Tipperary Timothy was from. I helped her identify where Timothy was from and identified relatives living in the Cloughjordan area. Maybe you have been in touch with Tanya since you posted this query in 2021. If you want any more information on Timothy and Ellen let me know. I am a volunteer with Ireland Reaching Out in Cloughjordan , county Tipperary .
