Matthew Carroll confirmation of connection to Stikillin

Chris, that is a lot of information and I am a bit wary of it, on the plus side I was involved in an earlier query about migration to New Brunswick on this site, apparently a lot of migration took place from 1820 to 1830 from the Cooley Peninsula, Omeath and Carlingford and there is a book on it but it is not available now, the author came in on the query too and gave the name, think he worked on a ferry in St John and said he had a lot more info now, I will try and see if I can locate it but I have answered most questions on Louth over the years so not too confident but this I am in email contact with a man who was involved I think.

The reason I am wary of the information is that church records for the period mentioned is very rare for a variety of reasons, I could not find a birth for Matthew Carroll in 1799, one in Waterford in 1800 but that is a long way away but also has connections to that part of Canada. Also while Meath and Louth are neighbouring counites the aeras mentioned are not that close for the time when people would not be liable to travel such distances without reason, but that is my opinion. Also I read that a lot of people on Ancestry take the hints and include them, Irish records at that remove are patchy and a parish may have missing  records but as the names are common enough you may find someone nearby where the parish has a records and take it as correct.

I have the burial records for Monasterboice and will look again at the other names you gave on Roots Ireland but while there are a lot of Carroll records none of the names turn up around the years mentioned which of course means where did the information come from initially as even if copied it must exist.
