There is a Patrick McQuinn married to an Ellen Sullivan, Derrymore 1846, a possible relation?

In Griffiths Land Valuation there are no McQuinns recorded in Derrymore c 1852.

Do you have a migration date for your McQuinns? It is a very common name in Massachusetts in 1860. Have you checked for neighbours in the Census or people buried in neighbouring plots in the graveyard?

There are 73 records of McQuinn for Tralee Civil Registration District up to 1870 (and probably more after). It might be useful to check those out to see if anyone has a Derrymore address.

Also at http://www.kerrylaburials.ie/ there are a number of McQuinns.

I cannot find McQuinn, Derrymore in the Titthe Applotments or the Calender of Wills.

I hope one of these resources comes up trumps for you.

Maurice and Sarah Quinn (married as McQuinn) and when they went to Dracut MA they became Quinn. On Morris' death record in Dracut MA in 1893 it said his father was Jeremiah from Ireland.

I do not know when they migrated, but Maurice was naturalized in 1856 in Dracut MA USA. In the Dracut MA Census of 1865, 1870 and 1880,  Maurice and Sarah Quinn were living next door to Thomas and Mary Quinn from Ireland and their 3 children maybe Maurice's brother. Depending on which census you believe, Thomas was 5-10 years younger than Maurice (then called Morris).

I looked in the Microfilm records for Tralee as you memtioned (not easy to read), but could not find a Maurice birth record abt 1800 or a marriage between a Thomas Quinn or a Mary in the 1840s.

Hi Suzanne, I am sorry to hear that reading those records did not give you information about your direct ancestor but if you broaden your reading you might find more about the extended MCQuinn family which might help you to find other descendants. There are gaps in the records and it can be very frustrating at times but sometimes people find other children of a marriage there which are not listed on irishgenealogy.ie.

The website http://stevemorse.org might help with your search for emigration records.

Kerry Local Authority burials sometimes is closed, possibly during updating, so do try again.

I had hoped to find a land record which would open up the McQuinn family story but unfortunately could not find any.

Do the baptismal sponsors of their children yield any information?
