Mccluskey family

Many Co. Monaghan RC parishes have do not have records before 1840 and some parishes start much later. When I search the subscription site Roots Ireland, I don't see a Thomas McCluskey with a mother with the surname McGee. 

The RC parish of Donagh for some reason for the years 1837-1841 did not retain the names of the parents of a child baptized. I mention this because there were two Thomas McCluskey baptisms in Donagh in June 1837 and June 1838.

I further searched in Donagh and found a James McCluskey/Mary McGee couple who had four children Patrick 1844 Charles 1846 Mary 1848 William 1851

I pass this info on to you since you were unsure about the father's name of Thomas and the mother is a McGee but Mary rather than Anne.

Hi roger sorry for late reply thank you so much for your information I know it’s hard to trace Irish ancestors as I have a few in my tree 

I did find a baptism for Thomas 26 Jan 1840 Armagh but don’t know if right 

I’ve been at this for years I think I need to accept defeat in knowing I won’t be able to move forward

If you have not tested your DNA, you want to consider testing. You may get matches with 3rd and 4th cousins (any where in the world) who might have more info on your McCluskey/McGee line.

Hi Roger 

I have had the dna test done years ago in the hope but nothing definitely come from out of space lol

I am beginning to wonder if he came from there at all but it’s always on the census 

my great grandfather was Francis mccluskey b 1877 Gateshead 

thomas his father married Ann McGee on 6 sep 1869 Newcastle upon Tyne she was a widower 

I have him on 1871 census onwards but not on anything before that guess I’ll never get answers 

I found a John mccluskey b 1820 Monaghan married to Mary McGee or Ann McGee don’t know which or if on right path 

having same issues with other Irish names unfortunately nearly all of my past ones are from Ireland need to win the lottery and spend a year in Ireland lol
