I find this project very interesting.
I know I have Irish roots on both my father's and mother's sides of my family, but as far as I know, nothing has been traced back far enough to take us across the pond thus yet.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Jon McGee

Hi Jon,
According to this website, the McGee's arrived in Ireland during the Ulster Plantations. Perhaps some of our people on the ground in Ulster can shed some more light on this for you.
Though slightly off topic, here's some information about the Ulster Plantation (it's a very interesting part of our history).
Thanks for the query.

Thanks for the info -- so far, I haven't had any luck clicking through the parishes of Ulster. Will continue on...

If you don't mind my asking, Jon, where did your McGees emigrate to? I have a lot of research for my McGees in St Lawrence and Franklin Counties, New York State, and in Canada (see my post about James McGee and Robert McGee from Leckpatrick, Tyrone.) Pat

Hi Jon
I am also researching McGee ancestors, I have the last as Daniel McGee in Donagal born in early 1800
married Mary Curran, children Ellen and Edward McGee. Both Edward and Ellen Emigrated to Australia in about 1880 or there abouts. I was wondering if there is a connection, and noting how long ago your post was how you had faired with your research.
